Slow Spam

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

It seems that even the good old snail mail is now affected by SPAM… here’s the evidence!
By the way, you may have noticed from the link above that this site has now an image gallery: it was something I needed to organize the upload and management of images and I hope it will be useful to you too ;)
On a related news, I also made some changes to my portfolio: the descriptions are now a lot shorter. And I just added one page for a university project: the MUD! Check it out, you can even download the whole application ;)

Microsoft has stated…

…that they will support the OpenDocument format in MS Office if there is customer demand.
I’m really fed up with their Word closed document format: people just use it without thinking that maybe someone is not willing to pay for MS Office (and is not willing to crack it either). Opening Word document with OpenOffice is possible, but you have to be lucky not to lose something during the conversion process. An open standard will hopefully lead to better interoperability.

As different as night and day

Last saturday, I must admit I was feeling pretty miserable.
Music brought me back to life.

A mistake

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

It was a mistake after all. Most of the time, I caught myself thinking “I don’t belong here”.
But, unfortunately, the problem is not the “here”, it’s the “I”.
After all these years, it seems I’m still going in the wrong direction.

Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide

Who can you trust?

Do you know what Trusted Computing is? Here’s an interesting animation that may help you understand it better (or be helpful in making other people understand what the problem is). The animation in itself is really a good example of how most of communications over the internet should work: it’s short, gets to the point, is well realized and it seems to provide a NPOV on the matter.
For those of you who prefer italan, here’s the italian version.
Thx to foll for the link ;)

The 5th Element

Sunday, October 2nd, 2005

No, I’m not talking about Milla Jovovich.
Tomorrow is the first day of the first semester of my fifth year of university. It’s tomorrow, and I’m still unsure wich courses I’m going to take… besides, the first lesson starts at 8:15 in the morning. DUH!

All in all, I’m not so eager to start a new year of university… mostly because of a high amount of residual summer laziness, I think ;)
And it’s somewhat exciting and frightening at the same time to think that this is likely to be my last year as a student.
