NOX Wizard

Nox Wizard was created for a friend who needed a website for an Ultima Online Shard. I had to come up with both the graphics and a simple engine to handle news. This site was realized using PHP & MySQL.

The graphics made use of a runic font and some Photoshop processing (mostly to add glow or simple effects as bevel). The layout of the site was pretty standard, with a menu on the left, admin options on the right (nearly invisible to non-admin users) and the content in the center column.

The PHP backend was simple: essentially just a news engine with users management and some configurable options. Given its plainness, the whole backend was integrated in the site graphics.

PlayIt!

PlayIt was my first attempt at a dynamical site. It's coded in ASP and based on an Access database, just because at the time I managed to discover ASP before PHP.

The dynamical properties of ASP allowed me to create a range of features I never dreamed of before... that's why the backend of PlayIt! was far more complicated than the part that was visible to users.

The graphics were created with a 3D modeling program (not that they really required it... I just thought it was easier that way), imported in a 2D image editor, cut into pieces and finally inserted in a complicated table layout, aimed to minimize the size of the pages (to speed up the browsing, of course).

The image you can see in the upper right corner of the screenshot was randomly selected among various movie scenes.

The backend allowed the insertion of news, long and detailed reviews, trailer links, polls and much more. The latest addition to the ASP engine was the support to articles planning.
